Reboot The Boat, Say What?

No question about it, some people are making their boats way too complicated and relying on electronics way too much. If you don’t believe me, read this post. Scary stuff: I can just see the fun of rebooting the boat on a dark and stormy night offshore. Worse still, what if you had to reboot the boat before using the engine to assist in a person overboard emergency?

I couldn't agree more.
As tempting as it is to spend and spend on the latest and greatest electronics, it's easy to forget that every networking link, every translation between different data protocols, and every extra circuit represents one more thing to attract good ol' Mr. Murphy.
Thankfully, a lot of us can't afford such stuff anyway, making the problem rather academic unless we're called upon to help such a vessel when the engines go down with the data bus and a handheld VHF is all that's left ;)
